Assorted Breakfast Sandwiches

I work a lot. I know this about myself. I live to work. Things I do not know include why I only eat bagels on the road. The same bagel. The everything bagel BELT. I can't resist it. But if that was the option at the downstairs cafe, would I get it over this homestyle bacon and egger? They fry the egg up fresh so it's that it's the last thing to be slipped into the sandwich before they wrap it up for my trip upstairs. It would be nice to have options beyond eating at the office or eating on the road. Maybe one day.

Pretzel Bagel Sandwich, Tim Horton's

It was not quite 5am on a Saturday morning when I ordered my breakfast bagel sandwich from Tim Horton's and noticed a pretzel bagel option. So be it, I thought. I don't ever go near a Tim Horton's unless I'm on the road, but you know what? This was pretty good. I love me a pretzel, and most street vendor pretzels are as dry as hell. This was at least moist and chewy, and came in a sandwich form!

Tim Horton's Breakfast BELT

Maybe I am becoming a fan. I just don't know anymore. I am so tired. But this BELT on multigrain with a large Earl Grey tea tasted really freaking good on this early morning flight.

Tim's Crispy Chicken Sandwich

After a five hour flight and before wading into rush hour traffic, we sat down for a bite to eat at Timmy Ho's just out the gate at Pearson. Seeing a new menu item thrown into rotation, even though I don't frequent Tim Horton's very often save for airport visits, I had to try this new crispy chicken sandwich. Being probably the most "fast food" option of their usual fresh fare type deal, I welcomed this addition to their random bland menu. Tasting more like a chicken finger in a sandwich, it was the perfect snack before having a post flight nap and dinner.

Veggie bagel, Tim Horton's

I've ordered this all across Canada, and my data from at least 20 samples confirms that every Tim Horton's outlet makes their veggie bagel sandwich differently. Some places have it on the menu, and some places are veggie bagel deniers, so you have to walk them thru it. In that case, it may take five minutes to order one, because apparently no-one ever does and it's confusing to hear the words “veggie bagel” out of the blue like that. Maybe they are trying to tell me something, and yet I persist in ordering this non-remarkable sandwich at rest stops and airports because it is only $3.50 and often surrounded by equally uninspiring choices.  I tend to opt for a multigrain bagel, toasted, with swiss cheese, mayo, honey mustard, tomato, lettuce and cucumber. When these are fresh, it's quite good. A cautionary note that some locations will give only 1 slice of  tomato, so if that is not acceptable to you, be sure to specify that you want lots of tomatoes. One person...

Breakfast panini, Tim Horton's

The grill marks look fake from here. A weary morning air traveler, I try new options when they are offered. This Timmy Ho's breakfast panini stuck to my gut all the way across the continent. I keep expecting their morning sandwiches to be better than they are, but alas, they haven't quite figured out how to usurp the all mightly mcmuffin.

Breakfast sandwich, Tim Horton's,

I was on the road again and by 10:30 a.m. I had already eaten at Tim Horton's twice. Not because I wanted to, but this is just what happens. First up was this breakie sandwich on a cheddar jalapeno bagel. I prefer their bagel sandwiches over their english muffins, because let's face it, McDonald's does that better. Note to self: Maybe don't order a jalapeno anything before 6 a.m.

The club house speculation continues

Hitting up the Tim Horton's drive through out of Saskatoon, I realized I had actually not eaten since the last club house at Broadway the afternoon before. About to be on the road for 5 hours, I thought it best I get the Large chicken club sandwich. Lo and behold, it was the size of two regular sandwiches. As I continued the club house sandwich conversation, updating of my experience the day before, and now seeing this giant monster on my lap, we accepted that the club house has never gone away, that it's far too classic to go anywhere, and here it is at its most consumable. I don't remember ever liking Tim Horton's sandwiches ever before, but this one was pretty good, especially with the honey mustard kick embedded within and fresh veggies. It kept me full for the whole ride home.

Tim Horton's Breakfast Sandwich (YEG)

I am one of maybe three Canadians who doesn't share in the love of Tim Horton's. But finding myself at the airport one very early morning, the prospect of an airplane sandwich made me lineup with the rest of the Timmy Ho zombies for a breakfast sandwich. Cultivating a life long love of the Egg McMuffin, I was skeptical of the introduction of the new english muffin option at Tim's. A basic egg and cheese was nice and greasy, not as greasy as the beloved McMuffin, but sticks to your gut just the same. But there's no challenge to the original. If it came down to this one or that one, the McMuffin would still win, hands down.
